Ping test – Minecraft
Measure latency to the game's servers and see if your connection is good for online gaming.
About the gaming ping test
This gaming test measures your ping to the game servers that matter for popular titles, so you can see how responsive your connection will feel in-game. Low, stable ping is what keeps your shots registering and your movement smooth.
Ping matters more than raw download speed for gaming. If your ping is high or jumpy, try a wired connection, close background downloads and check for bufferbloat, which is a common cause of in-game lag.
Gaming ping FAQ
What is a good ping for gaming?
Under 30 ms is excellent, up to about 60 ms is good, and above 100 ms you will start to notice lag. Competitive shooters benefit most from the lowest, steadiest ping.
Why is my ping high in games?
Common causes are Wi-Fi instead of a cable, a distant game server, background downloads and bufferbloat. Testing on a wired connection helps you pinpoint the cause.
Does download speed affect ping?
Not directly. Ping is about latency, not bandwidth, so a very fast line can still have high ping. Stability and low latency matter far more for gaming than big download numbers.
